In 1990, Winkey Brinson and his wife, Pat, began a small ‘hobby’ venture while both worked full time jobs. Their love of gardening and working in their own gardens inspired them to grow small numbers of hosta in an area of their backyard in Douglasville, Georgia. On the weekends they loaded up the old ‘66 Chevy truck with lots of hosta, drove to the Farmer’s Market in Atlanta and sold them. |

Winkey somehow imagined that this small business would keep him busy and provide a small source of income when he retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. Pat’s son, John Rowley, began working with them in 1992, also on a part-time basis, and in 1993 they purchased 13 acres in rural Douglas County to expand their venture. They dubbed the property ‘Triple Creek Flower Farm’, named for the three creeks that crisscross the property. |

By 1995 Triple Creek had expanded their product line to include not only hosta and dayliles, but ferns, flowering shrubs, hanging baskets, and numerous other perennial plants as well. John was working full time at the Farm and he and Winkey worked long and hard to establish Triple Creek as the area’s favorite “Destination Garden Center”. It’s planted gardens illustrate, to both novice and seasoned gardeners alike, how these wonderful plants will grow in the their gardens. The areas of sun and shade gardens, quiet walking paths and picnic area, provide an enjoyable, comfortable setting for gardeners to contemplate additions to their gardens. |

Winkey retired from the railroad in 2000 and Pat left her job at the bank shortly thereafter. Both Winkey and Pat have worked the business full time since then - Winkey and John doing the plant production, sales, and delivery; Pat handling the ordering and accounting. Two full time employees were added and seasonal help completed the workforce. |

In 2005, Triple Creek acquired a small retail garden center called ‘Bloomers’ located about 15 miles west of the farm in Carrollton, Georgia. Bloomers carries the same plants, trees, and shrubs grown at Triple Creek, and also has a lovely garden store featuring garden related gifts and statuary. Both Triple Creek Flower Farm and Bloomers now can also provide customers with complete landscape planning and installation. |
